A Day in the Life

Having a 'successful' day when you are a SAHM with a toddler can be a little tricky. Here are a few things that make for a successful day in my book.

1. I am able to shower.
2. I get to spend 5 minutes reading the scriptures without having to stop reading to fix a problem & I remember to say my prayers.
3. At least one thing gets cleaned in the house be it one toilet, a bathtub, a floor that is vacuumed, etc.
4. One load of laundry is started and finished all the way to put away.
5. I do one creative activity with my kids - even if it's just building block towers for Baby Boy to knock down.
6. The TV stays off for the majority of the day.
7. I plan and make a decent dinner
8. The children don't kill themselves with all the crazy things they do. Meaning I'm on top of it enough to stop them before they do something really crazy.
9. I remember to stay calm when something goes wrong.
10. I tell my husband and kids that I love them.

So...this is not an exhaustive list...but I am trying to find some ways to feel successful in what I am doing on a daily basis.

I'm curious ... what makes a day successful for you?

When the children are still alive at the end of the day.

Okay, just kidding! But my list is a lot like yours, although I'm a tad easier on myself (and yes, you can laugh because your list is fairly easy!).

My biggest check-off is usually a question I ask myself: "Did I try to do good things today?"

I just wrote a nice long comment and it didn't save it. :(
But basically I agree with your points, although I don't have to worry about fighting siblings yet. :)

I think you are amazing, my list on any given day consists of three things. #1 Get up. #2 shower. #3Get dressed. I figure anything i do beyond that is a bonus. And anything else i do accomplish gets written on the list and then crossed off so that i can look at the list at the end of the day and feel great that everything was crossed off.

I thought that was you Anne! I like your list...I think that's going to be my new way of feeling accomplished. By the way...when are you starting your blog...I need my Anne fix!

Cheryl - I just visited your site! Seriously...thanks so much for the award. It's so much fun getting to know YOU! I'll blog about said award tomorrow!

Hey Richelle - I totally feel what you are saying. I can't tell you how many times I craft a well-written comment, only to have it not post and then getting frustrated. Thanks for your comments!

My list is also a lot like yours. But I would add one thing: I get a 15 minute NAP! ha ha

Okay, maybe it doesn't make my day successful, but I'm sure in a better mood when I'm able to get a little more sleep.

I found you off of LDS Women Bloggers and what a great site. As for me, if I shower before bedtime, I deem my day a complete success. :-)
