Thankful Post - No.3

Today I am thankful for giving things up.  This week Dr. D and I decided we had to delete a show we both LOVE from our Netflix queue.  It doesn't seem like a big thing, but it has been kind of hard for me to do.  After a recent church meeting we both came away with the same "feeling" that we should give up watching that particular show.  When we leave many of our church meetings, Dr. D and I often talk about what our impressions were and what our thoughts were about what we were taught.  We have some great conversations that way.  So when we started talking about our impressions of the recent meeting referenced above, we approached the topic of this show with trepidation.  But then we both said the same thing at the same time.  Well...that does it.  If we both have the same thought about the exact same thing, we're pretty sure it's coming from the same place and it's not our own heads...

There's something about giving something up that you really enjoy because you know you should.  It's hard...but ultimately it empowers you and makes you stronger.  Really...it does.  So...here's to becoming a little stronger.

I know exactly what you're talking about here. My husband and I were devoted watchers of a certain show until a few years ago. We had a similar experience to what you described. A lot of our friends watched the show--and so in some ways we felt like we were going to be missing out. But you know, I haven't missed it one bit. And it feels good knowing that I followed an impression that will allow the spirit to remain more consistently in my home.

Love your thankful for all things posts. I have thought long and hard about being thankful for the fleas. Not always an easy thing to do - but such a blessing when I can. So, thanks for the reminder!
