Ode to Bessie

Good Old Bessie...she tried and tried to be good,
But something has been brewing - she can't run like she should.
"Please get me some help", she said with a sigh
"Oh Bessie, your OK," was my only reply.

But Bessie, she just couldn't take anymore,
And finally we broke down and called the guy at the store.
"Bessie's sick - awful bad." He retorted with glee,
"I can fix her, but it'll cost ya" He said smiling at me.

So we checked her right in, with a tear in each eye,
"Good luck, Bessie" we whispered and I started to cry.
It's now been three days - Bessie's been in the shop,
Problem after problem...how I wish those calls would stop.

For cars, as you know, are a necessity here,
With excessive heat warnings drawing daily near.
Oh the joys of car ownership - they are really a pain,
Now I'll end this poem and hope to stay sane.

*******************************

Yep...our minivan is in the shop. Yes, she has been there three days & yes, we have had three extra phone calls when they find something new that is wrong with it. In the end...here's the problem. Our Mazda minivan has a Ford motor in it. If I had known that the motor was made by Ford...I wouldn't have bought the van (too many bad experiences with Ford in the past...).

I don't think the car companies should be able to call a car a Mazda if it has a Mazda body but a Ford motor. They should call it a Mord or Fazda...then at least we'd know what we were getting!

Ah well...what are you going to do? Here's to hoping we get the minivan back today.

Car problems are so annoying. Dishonest mechanics are even more annoying. Hopefully that's not what's going on with your repairs.

I like your poem. Hope you can get your car back soon though, without TOO much of a bill to go with it.

Cars are the pits. And they always seem to break down at the worst times. Hope you get yours back soon and that it's not too pricey!

Love the poem! Drives me nuts when the car is not working!

I agree, you should call the car what it is! We had a venture van, the mechanic said, go google your van, you may want to unload that before it totally falls apart! I appreciate his comment!

Hope you have a car today and the new poem is about driving!

Mord or Fazda. Love it!
Great Poem!
We finally got my husbands car fixed and running and hopefully we will get mine running right again soon.
Good luck with your van.

What a pain! All those miles driving around Idaho and back probably did poor Bessie in. I love the poem!

Thanks everybody...Bessie is now back and she seems to be healthy again. And oh yeah...the bill was a killer!!! But it was less expensive than buying a new car. :)

I just wanted to let you know I left you something on my blog today. Check it out when you get a chance. :-)

good job on the poem--it was so fun to read despite feeling sorry for you. I always take my cars for granted until they are gone; hey, that reminds me of a song, "You don't know what you got..."
