MIA: Spring

I was really ready for Spring. I knew in my mind that it wouldn't really come this soon in Idaho, but when all the massive snow melted off my yard and I could see our baby grass again (we seeded last fall) I let my defenses down and was ready to hope for warmth and playing outside and visits to the park.

Mother Nature had other ideas and has not stopped playing her April Fool's joke. Snow, snow, snow. I have been trying to stand firm by not getting out the snow shovel and my Sorrels, but my will is breaking down.

I wish I loved snow. Then this would be very exciting. But I don't love snow and it's not. It is depressing to me and my coughing has returned (which verifies my theory that my coughing is directly tied to cold weather).

My friends in Arizona are smelling the orange blossoms (pure heaven) right now. They are watching cacti bloom. They are enjoying warmth and sun.

Maybe this wouldn't have been so bad, but this last weekend from Thursday through yesterday it was Spring Break for Jewel. We couldn't leave town because this is that last week of the semester for Dr. D - but I had hoped we could have picnics in the park, dig out the weeds that have crept into our baby lawn, ride bikes, and breathe fresh air. Instead Jewel and Alfredo had a snowball fight on Thursday for about 5 minutes, they then decided it was way too cold and came inside. We did tromp through the snow for a walk on Sunday, hopeful that the melting snow would be the end of the winter, but it snowed again yesterday and then again today.

I'm ready for Spring. I guess it isn't ready for me yet. I'll just have to wait....

well the orange blossoms are wonderful, I won't lie, but remember we might hit 90 thus week and spring here is more like summer and summer is more like living in a convection oven.

by the time you get good weather, ours will be long gone!

Yuck, yuck, and triple yuck! Maybe the college kids will take the bad weather away with them when the semester ends (you can blame college kids for just about anything in the burg).

Know that we miss having you as neighbors...but it's stinking hot here..and it's so hard to do stuff outside when it's so hot. So, just think, before too long, you'll be enjoying nice outdoor weather and we'll be sweltering in the too hot sunshine. :)

I know the feeling. I do love the snow and am a huge fan of winter. But there's a season for everything, and I gotta say that I am way done with this winter season. Apparently God isn't done with it yet here in Colorado :)

Here's to hoping for blue skies and warm weather! I can't wait to start planting my pepper garden again.

Leslie!
This so made me laugh!!! Just a great reminder of life in southeastern Idaho. My parents are at an even higher altitude than Rexburg (Driggs) and it is pretty much winter there 9 months out of the year. I never appreciated spring until I lived in Indiana. Spring doesn't just mean mud here--it's beautiful!!! But then again, I have no amazing mountains to look out at either, so there's the tradeoff I guess. We hope to see you this summer. We plan to be there at the end of July. We thought of you both as we went to the symphony on Sat. night and thought of Dallin. What a sweet family you have...
