When I Grow Up...

It's so fun to have a Kindergartener. I am amazed at the way Big Sis is growing and learning. I have loved watching her learn to read and write, to draw actual characters and to watch her developing abilities to draw concrete objects. I love watching her mind expand and grasp difficult concepts. Seeing her grow in her ability to problem solve has been similarly wonderful.

Yesterday, Big Sis brought home a "book" written and illustrated by the children in her class. It was called, Career Day, and each of the children drew a picture and wrote a sentence about what they want to do when they grow up.

Here is Big Sis' page:

In case you can't read the sentence, it says: When I grow up I want to be a teacher and a Mom (the "a" next to "Mom" was cut off...my scanner isn't big enough!).

I was so touched that she added that she wanted to be a Mom. None of the other children said anything about being a parent. I was so pleased that Big Sis would think that being a Mom is a great thing to be and would recognize in her own little 5-year-old-kindergartener kind of way that choosing to be a Mom is a career choice - and I'm so glad that it is the choice I made.

I also love that the pic shows a princess-like figure. Can I look like a princess every day while I do my mom duties? Crown and all? :)

I love the crown in the drawing. So cute! That is a sweet note and it's great that she realizes the importance of motherhood so young. You must be teaching her well. :)

Of course she would mention Mom because she has such a wonderful mother!
