Random Stuff Buzzing Around in My Head

Today is the first day of the last semester of my husband's doctoral pursuit. I'm very excited that the end of school is close at hand, but also a little bit sad to be leaving this part of our lives behind. Is that crazy or what?

Today is the first day of the presidency of Barack Obama. I have to admit, I didn't watch the inaugural address...I was busy "babysitting" for a friend, so I'll have to catch that somewhere later. I will say, that even though I didn't vote for President Obama, I am willing to hope that he will be a good president and hope that he can actually bring about some of these changes that he promised we could believe in during his campaign. And aside from his personal politics...I am personally thrilled to see an African-American President. Very cool.

And...as President Bush leaves office, I'm just going to say..."Thank you, Mr. President". I do believe George W. Bush to be a good person and one who tried to do the best he could. I don't think he was an awful president as so many others do. Do I think he made mistakes? You bet! But I really do believe he has tried to do the best he could with the information available to him and according to his conscience.

I cannot believe that Tom Hanks slammed Mormons last week. I thought better of him than that. Of course I didn't like the fact that he slammed my religion, but I think I would feel the same if he had made similar comments about any group (minority, majority, religion, etc.). I do hope that we can all allow for difference of thought on issues and allow all people to do the same without calling them unAmerican.

And finally...the winner of the B&BW Breathe lotion is: An Ordinary Mom ! Thanks to everyone for coming back here after my long absence!

I am going to have to come back and click the link to the Tom Hanks thing--I must have missed that. I have to run and get my son from school--so I'll be back!!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...but it IS a shame that Proposition 8 has set the public back 200 years in their opinions of us. Tom has his opinion...and I think he's wrong. :-)

No more Tom Hanks movies. Ditto on the president thoughts. I was annoyed that people didn't show more respect to the presidential office when they were booing Bush at the inauguration.

I agree with your inauguration comments. I am deeply sad about Tom Hanks because I was a fan. It just hurts. Ahhh...disillusionment.

I didn't hear about the Tom Hanks thing. I am so sad though. He was one of my faves.
And Breathe is the scent I have been using too.

I agree with your perfectly worded sentiments on Pres. Bush. I hope that Obama will do well in the office of president, but I must admit that I hope he doesn't do ALL the things he promised. :)

I hadn't heard about Tom Hanks slamming Mormons. I'm not really sure how judging all Mormons doesn't qualify as discrimination.
